Hello and welcome, I’m Ana Uzelac.
I am an artist painter, born in Serbia, raised in Zimbabwe, living in between Paris and Belgrade. I mostly paint and draw.
Growing up in different environments, I felt a strong need to find a unifying connection for the stories, fables and personal impressions that captivated me. I realised that colour and shape are this universal language.
I began painting as a young child in Zimbabwe. Later, I moved to Paris and to New York to study Fine Arts, graduated, then took a job allowing me to travel to many countries on different continents for several years.
During these travels, everything I saw projected images in my mind that I wanted more and more to express in the best way I knew how – by painting them. I started painting stories where shapes set the narration and the colours serve to convey the mood and thought process.
If you find my colours playful, it is the African soul in me, and as for the rest, it’s the impressions I picked up along my way.
